About Me - The start of A2 Media Studies for 2024:

Hello There, My name is Katie Padfield, and this year I will be taking the A2 Media Studies course for 2024. After completing AS Level Media Studies in 2023, I can say that I am over the moon to be taking on, and embarking through the journey of A2 Media this year.  This is the first post on my documentation blog for the year. Here you will find everything that I have been studying, researching, and planning in order to prepare for my practical filming project, and my A2 Media Studies written exam. 'You're Losing Me' Music Video - Major Task / Advanced Portfolio:

For my Major Task I've chosen the song 'You're Losing Me' by Taylor Swift, to create my music video for. Here is the song:  I've done some research and discovered that this song doesn't actually have a music video; meaning that I will need to watch and research some other music videos of Taylor Swift's in order to capture her style when it comes to portraying the meanings and narratives behind each of her songs.     

Music Video Genre Research:

Music Video Genres : Performance:  One of the oldest and most commonly used music video genres. The video mainly consists of the band members playing their instruments, dancing, singing, and even performing to a live audience. "The bands are located in various exciting locations that connect with the song and the feeling they're trying to create"                                                           Narrative: Where the artist tries to tell some sort of story through the music video.  Tends to reference the lyrics of the song.    The three different narrative techniques used in music videos: ' Illustration ' ("The narrative is based purely on the song") ' Amplification ' ("The lyrics are still closely connected to the video, but not all scenes are relative to the song")  ' Disjuncture ' ("Where the narrative becomes...

My Pitch:  Audience Feedback:  Adin Otto (15 - 20yrs): What genre of music do you listen to the most?                                                                                   - Christian, Pop, and K- Pop   What do you expect to see in a storytelling music video? ( e.g .  certain shots , Emotions, Or themes)? - I don't really expect anything specific. However, I would probably expect intentional symbolism as well as locations/ settings, and camera shots/ angles which support the theme/ message of the music video, l ike you have shown in your pitch .   Do you watch music videos, If so, then why ? ...
