Symbolism + Iconography Research:

Billie Eilish - &Burn (Previous A2 Media Studies music video)

Symbolism and Iconography in this previous A2 Music Video can include:

- Flames: Coincides with the lyrics and the main message of the song; the overlay effect of these flames can symbolise the lyric "With the fire that you started in me". They also symbolise the passion and anger, that the artist is feeling.

- Flame being blown out: Symbolises the end of the artists previous relationship.

- Red nails, shirt, and lips: Could symbolise the love that the artist felt.

- Eye Shadow: Symbolises fire (Orange Tint).

- Match being dropped: Symbolises the artists anger, and is a metaphorical portrayal of the lyric 'And I'll watch your car burn'.

The Symbolism and Iconography that I intend on using in my Music Video:

- Hospital Room / Heartrate Monitor: The shots in this setting will be a metaphorical portrayal of the lyrics 'You're losing me' and 'I can't find a pulse, my heart won't start anymore'; these shots will also portray the idea of the artist 'dying'.

- Forest: The shots in this setting will be a metaphorical portrayal of the artist 'being lost'.

- The Rose / Petal Falling: Will represent that their love is 'dying', 'wilting' relationship

- Hallway: Will symbolise a place of what once were good memories for the artist, will also coincide with the lyric 'Runnin down the hallway'

- White Dress: The artists white dress that she wears in the forest, will symbolise both a sense of freedom (as she's moved on from her relationship), and a sense of a lost and destroyed relationship (as the dress will be made rather dirty, and ripped up as the music video goes on).

- Artist laying in Flowers: Will symbolise a grave, the artist 'dying'.

- Red Dress?: Symbolises the artists passion and love for the male love interest

- Artist with the male love interest / Later on being left alone at the party: Symbolises the dying relationship.

- Moment of diegetic silence (peace) in the last shot: Symbolises Freedom, being able to move on from her previous relationship.
